We plan some activities that are teacher directed and a variety of learning activities that are chosen by the children. Listed below are some of the curriculum goals for Aloha Christian Preschool's 3 Years Old Program
Support children's play and develop their independence, helping them when needed
Allow children to do what they are capable of doing and that they can to do for themselves.
Encourage play in a variety of areas such as dramatic play, blocks, art, etc.
Support beginning friendships with other children and encourage social interaction.
Provide many materials and opportunities for children to develop fine motor skills. Puzzles, pegboards, beads to string, construction sets and art materials are all used in the classrooms.
Encourage creative expression through a variety of art methods and mediums (i.e. crayons, brushes, paints, markers, play dough and blunt scissors).
Promote exploration and learning about the environment through block play, sand and water tools, measuring and scooping and simple science activities like blowing bubbles, flying kites or planting seeds.
Extend children's language and musical abilities through experiences and opportunities with teacher-read books, reciting simple poems and finger plays and singing during circle time.
Explore and exercise large motor skills through running, jumping, galloping, catching a ball, etc.
Introduce letters, numbers, shapes and colors. Areas of interest are introduced to children on a weekly basis. Examples include holidays, turkeys, apples, babies, spiders and flowers.
